I really like rice paper and will be purchasing a new printer and edible ink so that I can use it more often. There are so many things you can do with rice paper and it is edible. Since I didn't use edible ink on this cake, the logo was removed before the cake was consumed. I did a test run to make sure the ink wouldn't bleed onto the cake, all was fine.

This upcoming weekend I am doing my second wedding cake. It is a very simple design, 4 round tiers iced in ivory Swiss meringue buttercream. Each tier will have piped pearls in watermelon pink around the bottom. Then silk flowers will be placed on the cake.
I'm not nervous about the actual cake, just nervous about figuring out how much time it will take. I bought all my ingredients last week. Today I figured out how many batches of cake to make and later will measure out all the dry ingredients to help speed up the process on baking day. I did a practice batch of the Swiss meringue buttercream so that I have a better idea of how long each batch takes and how far it will go.
I also had to request more silk flowers from the mother of the bride as she only gave me 4 roses for a 4 tiered cake. I could make it work, but it wouldn't fit with the cakes that the bride wants me to base her cake off of. I am glad I requested to receive the flowers ahead of time.
I have a girl from church set up to come over Friday to watch the kids so that I can concentrate on cakes. The wedding is 2:30 Saturday, so I will have a little time for finishing touches on wedding day. Wish me luck!

They are gorgeous
The rice paper print out looked great on the cake. I had looked into buying rice paper to make butterflies with food markers but never did. I can't wait to see the results of the wedding cake. I'm working on my first one but months in advance since it's not till September. I'm a bit nervous.
I've never worked with rice paper, but it looks neat.
Good luck this weekend- I can't wait to see the final result!
Whoo hoo! What kind of support system do you use for your wedding cakes? I've been thinking about getting the rice paper printer as well. You'll have to tell me what kind you're going to get!
