Baby shower cake

I didn't do all the food for the shower, I have some very talented friends, but isn't the table beautiful!
With permission from Alana Hodgson, I used her design for this cake. I didn't get a chance to photograph it at home, so the lighting is a bit off. The pink is actually a little darker. I also had a bit of trouble with the top tier sliding during transportation. I need to learn how to secure my tiers better.

I purchased a great tool to make the ropes. It is the Makin's Clay Ultimate Clay Extruder. I wish I had bought one of these before. I had a playdough factory which uses the same idea, but the plastic has difficulty holding up to the fondant. This worked perfectly. I found it at Hobby Lobby for $25, but used a 40% off coupon and it was worth every penny. There are a couple other versions of extruders out there, I like this one because the handle twists down instead of having to push or squeeze the fondant out. I have carpal tunnel so the twist version doesn't bother my wrists at all.

The cake is Ghirardelli Ultimate Fudge Cake. I filled it with a raspberry ganache from the Cake Bible (recipe to follow later in the week). The icing is buttercream with fondant accents.

I used a tutorial from the Cake Boss website for help making the bow on top. I would love to get a pasta maker attachment for my KitchenAid to help roll the fondant out thinner, maybe for Christmas.

I love the colors. The bow looks great. I'm hoping to get a pasta attachment for my mixer too. It sure would be great to have. I've got to know more about that extruder.
